After much research I note that the emachine is prone to over heating. But this machine I am working on right now is a complicated one. Not only does the machine over heat it appears very very slow. I performed the following :
Format hard drive and installed Windows 7
Format hard drive and installed Vista Premium
Reseated and applied new thermal paste to CPU and GPU
Both operating systems were very very slow and kept crashing. Running CRCDISK on reboot the machine hangs at 13% every time so it's pointing to a hard drive issue.
I am just installing an old 80GB hard drive I had laying around, installing Win 7.

iphone 3gs downgraded and unlocked
Over the weekend I was working on an iphone 3gs which was running ios 5.0.1. I installed the ipad baseband to unlock by after installing Ultrasn0w I was stuck with no signal or no service. I tried everything, including installing the ultrasn0w patch but still nothing. I jailbroke and unlocked the phone several times and flashed the baseband several times but I just could not get past the no service message.
So I stitched the saved SHSH blob for 4.1 which I had (stitched using latest version of Redsn0w) and took the phone back to ios 4.1. I then jailbroke the phone and successfully unlocked it, now we have a signal, yipee!
The ongoing problems with a the 3gs 5.0.1 unlock with no service is well documented but nobody seems to have come up with a definitive answer to the problem yet! So for anyone still having ios 5.0.1 no service, my definitive answer is to roll the firmware back to ios 4.1 and then jailbreak and unlock.
